What if I told you there’s a way to get published on other people’s websites, build your authority (aka online reputation), and improve your SEO WITHOUT paying for ads or placement? It exists AND it’s called guest blogging.
Guest blogging, or guest posting, is when you write a blog post that is then published on someone else’s website or blog. You’re still credited (it’s not ghostwriting), and you get the full attention of their viewers/readers/community—it’s just on their website.
But, there’s a little more to it than that….
Okay, yes, guest blogging feels like it should be something only “bloggers” do—you know, the lifestyle or affiliate bloggers who share things about their lives, create round-up posts of each other’s crafts, or share a review about their latest favorite product.
But it’s not.
Guest posting is a way for business owners to collaborate (yay!), build backlinks (which is awesome for SEO), and show up in front of new audiences (kinda like podcast guesting).
Honestly, it has quite a few benefits, but we’ll leave that for another day. For now, here’s everything you need to know about what guest blogging is and the reason it might become your next favorite thing:
You don’t need a blog on your website to start guest blogging—actually, most of the time is spent finding guest posting opportunities and pitching a guest post. My favorite place to get started is with your business besties or friends, pitch and practice your guest blogging with them, first!

Mom of three, lover of all things blogging, and borderline obsessive coffee drinker — I also just happen to love making complicated things simple and accessible, especially when it comes to SEO. The blog is a collection of what I've learned from years of testing, trial and error, and working with amazing clients with impactful businesses (just like yours). Blogging and SEO doesn't have to be boring — and it definitely doesn't need to be difficult.
