7 Reasons to Fall in Love With SEO This Year

It’s a season of a booked and busy brain, and it made me think, what better time than now to share all the reasons to fall in love with SEO this year?

While SEO might not whisper sweet nothings in your ear or show up at your doorstep with your favorite flowers, it can bring you new people, consistent traffic, and a whole lot of business love.

So, even if you’ve been avoiding SEO because you’ve been burned in the past or you’ve lovingly labeled your relationship together as “it’s complicated,” this might just be the moment you change your mind.

Think of this as your meet-cute with SEO:

Reason #1: SEO is in it for the Long Run

Don’t get me wrong, flings can be fun—but what about stability? The problem with going viral (and relying on virality) or hoping that your IG story gets 300 views is that even if it does show up in front of the right people, it doesn’t last very long.

The average post on social media, story, or even thread lasts an average of 24 hours or just a few days. But the average blog post lasts for two years—and your SEO foundation can carry you for just as long, if not longer.

Reason #2: It Sends The Right Matches to You

You want readers to swipe right on your content—and SEO helps pair the right matches with you to make it happen. When you use the right keywords and create valuable content to YOUR audience, you can show up for them when they’re searching for you (not just when you’re online and posting).

Reason #3: Love at First Search

SEO and blogging are usually the first introduction you’ll have to someone. It’s the first impression; when you do it right, your audience will fall in love at first sight (or rather, first search).

You’ll be their first thought when they go to hire, decide it’s time to invest in resources, and recommend you to friends.

Reason #4: It Works for You While You’re Doing Whatever

Whatever you’re doing, it’s working for you in the background. SEO doesn’t care if you accidentally or intentionally ghosted your email list for two months or disappeared from social media for two years—it continues to appear in search results.

This is why SEO is one of my fave (and what I consider the MOST) low-energy way to market your business!

Reason #5: It’s the Gift That Keeps on Giving

SEO isn’t just about the amount of traffic it can bring, but the quality of that traffic—and the trust. People trust Google, and when people find you thanks to Google, they trust you, too.

The more you show up in search results, the more credible and trustworthy you seem, and the more people start to recognize you, your brand, and your expertise, and THAT’s what helps you turn a reader into a client.

Reason #6: You Get to Avoid Finicky Algorithms

Unlike social media platforms, Google and most search engines don’t have algorithms that change on a whim. Instead, they have a goal for the way they want stuff to show up in search and what is considered valuable to their users and provide updates that better connect that information to the searcher.

They’re not testing new features, creating trial reels, or potentially getting shut down by the government (ahem, TikTok).

Reason #7: Your Business Gets to be SEEN

And your business deserves to be seen… Your people NEED what you have to offer, they just can’t find you. When you use SEO, you show up where your people are searching and WHEN they’re searching.

SEO gets you seen, it allows new people to discover you—it gives you and your dream clients another chance to connect.
